"Let's Build a Wall!" wins two awards

I was very happy this week to have been awarded not only the First Place award but also the Audience Award from the Royal Sound Music Competition for my piece “Let’s Build a Wall! (An American Satire).”   Satire is all about poking fun at the ridiculous, and the political landscape in the US is certainly ripe for that – and on both sides of the (growing ever-more extreme) spectrum.   This piece pokes fun at both the conservative, xenophobic population for whom all problems get solved by a border wall; juxtaposed by the liberal voice that is also over the top and blinded by a need to be all embracing, everywhere…at least for the economic benefit of the US.   It’s all in good fun, people.   So enjoy!
